A beautiful day for a run...

What a great day for a run! I headed off to Stone Mountain to do the five mile loop and loved every moment of it. The weather was about 65 degrees, sunny and just beautiful!

Lately, I have become a fan of the silent run. You know, no ipod. This is something new for me as I was formerly in the ipod club. I couldn't imagine running without one. I still like them on 15-20 mile runs but really have come to enjoy just running in silence lately on the shorter runs. Listening to my feet hit the pavement and my lungs gasping for air on the hills... Seriously, give it a try one time. You might like it :)

Before I went out running, I put the makings for chicken noodle soup in the crock pot. CR loves this soup. If you are looking for a good recipe to try, give this one a whirl as it is so easy.

Easy Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Soup

In a crock pot, layer in the following:

one onion, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
1/4 t thyme
1 t salt
1/2 t pepper
12 oz bag of frozen peas and carrots

On top of this add:
3 uncooked chicken breasts
6 cups of water

Cook on low for 8 hours (or high for 4). Pull the chicken breasts out, shred the meat and add back to the pot. Add 3 cups of noodles (uncooked - I use elbow noodles but you can use whatever you have on hand - I won't judge). I also add another 2-3 cups of water at this point. Cook for another 30-45 minutes on low or until noodles are tender. Enjoy :)

Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I am getting back on the bike tomorrow. There is a charity ride / cookout at a bike shop in Dacula. Hope they have a nice turnout!

Wow, now this place needs no ipods!
Thanks for the recipe. I just might try it this weekend before I go for my long run.
Have a great weekend.

yum chicken soup, will definitely be giving that a go soon! I enjoy running without music outdoors, but if I'm on a treadmill, lord help me my ipod better be updated!

I cook soup all the time, and I use my crock pot, just never thought of doing the two together. I love it! Thanks I am going to try this one soon.

Cheers! Great pic of Stone Mountain too. I have only ever seen it from the front side where the relief sculpture is.

Beautiful place for a run. I never run outside with music or audio. I have learned I stay in touch with my body better if I have to hear myself :).

That chicken soup does sound yummy. Might have to give that a try!

Gorgeous picture! I rarely run with music. I enjoy the scenery and my own thoughts.

i haven't ran with music in forever for that reason. a good beat pumps me up, but i like "being in the run" i guess.

i've been on a soup kick lately... mostly boxed ones haha, but i would like to try to DIY one. bookmarking!

I can't wait to try that recipe, and also, get back to Stone Mountain. Haven't run there in so long! I hardly ever run with music anymore, and I used to think I couldn't live without it. It started with a few shorter runs with friends, then, longer and longer runs. Now, it's only on the treadmill.
