Learning to eat healthy (the remedial edition)...

CR has decided he wants to clean up his diet in an effort to stay off cholesterol medicine and the like. Try explaining a healthy diet to someone who spent most of his life eating whatever they wanted and never gave a calorie or fat gram a second thought. The conversation between me (who was raised on Diet Shasta and Weight Watchers) and CR (who was raised on Coca-Cola and ice cream) starts something like this:

Me: (talking about things he might want eat for a typical meal) You are going to need to eat mostly fruits, vegetables and meats

CR: That’s good. I like Bubba Burgers and corn.

Me: sigh….

LOL! Luckily, he does like vegetables in the form of vegetable soup so I am seeing A LOT of that in his future. Baby steps... :)

At least he didn't say corn chips!

Hah. Yeah... In our house corn and potatoes are both "vegetables" to a certain someone... Yah sure technically, I get it, but COME ON. :) good luck with CR!

That is great. Good luck helping him get the diet in order. Like you said - one baby step at a time!

haha! Love his desription of "healthy food". It took my husband awhile to get used to the "healthy food". But awesome he wants to make the changes!

Hahaha. Good luck with CR - he will eventually get it. I grew up on corn on the cob and peas as the only two vegetables and it took me a long time to like a salad. Now I can't live without one.

Good luck, but at least it's something he wants to do - that's the biggest hurdle!

Get him to take that first step and it all rolls down hill from there.

I love seeing and reading about how people want to take control of their diets. It's going to be hard for him and you but stick to it. It'll happen!
