Three Things Thursday...

1. I need to upgrade to Internet Explorer 8 but it conflicts with another program I have on my PC (long story). Without it, I have turned into a lurker. You know, the kind that reads but never says anything. Not that there is anything wrong with that except that I have things to say. I read your blogspot blogs but can't comment unless you have a pop up box for comments. Mostly frustrating because I REALLY want to comment and then realize I can't. If you start getting random emails from me with comments related to your blog, you will know why :)

2. I went to a ladies do it "her"self event at Home Depot last night. The point of the event is to make the do it yourself projects seem less intimidating. We started with crafts which is always a good way to ease into things. We made these tile coasters which were so easy and would be a fun little gift. Here is a how to I found online.

The main topic was closet organization. It made me lust after other people's closets. Our house is older which means we have tiny closets (think about 6 feet wide and 2 feet deep). They were showing off these awesome systems in which you could add baskets, shelving and other cool organizational tools to your closet, garage or pantry. It was so easy to do but I am seriously lacking in space. The class finished up with a demo on how to install a faucet. Funny how these things that seem like they would be so difficult really aren't all that difficult. Kind of like changing a flat on a bike. Once somehow shows you how to do it and you try it yourself, it really is no big deal. Not that I will be installing a faucet anytime soon but.... I could if I wanted to ;)

3. I did the Jingle Jog 5k last Saturday and came away with a new PR. My last PR was from the very first race I trained for in February of 2008. I wasn't really trying for a PR and didn't think I was running all that fast but I think it was a subconscious desire to get done. The race has a prize walk sponsored by Trader Joe's at the end. Basically about 10 people stand in front of 10 numbers in a circle. The choir singes Christmas Carols and then randomly stops in the middle. If they draw your number, you win. I was fixated on getting done with the race so I could get in line. It all paid off. A PR of 26:20 *and* I won the goody bag from Trader Joe's in the prize walk! Hooray!

Install FireFox! It handles blogspot's post creation editor and comment dialogs much better than IE does. I had tons of problems with IE7 as well last year or the year before, so switching to FF corrected all that.

Also, as a web developer, I'm about to stop coding for IE7. Right now I have to build for 7+, but it's going to 8+ pretty soon. Firefox has always been the most compliant with the standards, so I bet your software will also work in FF if it's allowed. Feel free to ask anytime you have computer problems like that.

Great Job on the PR.

I feel your pain with the closets. My house was built in 1912 and we have no storage.

Congrats on the PR.

Congratulations on the new PR! And a prize basket, too...very cool. :)

Those coasters look really cool. If I get ambitious, I'm going to check out the link. Surely I know SOMEONE on my list who'd love personalized coasters. :)

And organization...sigh...I can't even go there.

A PR and a bag from TJs--what more could a person want! ; )

That's pretty cool about the home depot classes. Something I could definitely use!

Sounds like your Home Depot night was really fun. I have installed several faucets now...When you are on your own you learn quickly to do these things. Not much intimidates me in terms of do it yourself though :)!

Congratulations on the new PR - what an awesome time! That's cool that you won the Trader Joe's prize too. Sounds like a super fun race!

Lurking is okay...It happens. You could always try upgrading to Internet Explorer 9 instead of 8 if you want, that's the latest version they have available.

Sounds like a terrific weekend.

How much to fly you to Dallas to fix our closet? I'll break a faucet if it makes sense to have you install one for us as well.
