Here we go...

This weekend kicks off the tri season for me!  This year I actually have a tri season...  the last two years I built up to two big races at the end of the year and that was the end of that.  Season opener and ender all in one month.  It feels odd to have such a large race this early in the year.  Tomorrow I will be making my way to Knoxville for the Rev3 Half Iron.

I would say I am feeling unprepared but in thinking back on my other races, that seems to be the way I ALWAYS feel so I won't bore you with those thoughts. Let's just hope that my feelings of unpreparedness work out as well as the other times :)

Truth be told, I am a little nervous about this race.  It is hillier than anything I have attempted thus far.  I guess you would call that a challenge.  I think the nerves of just fear of the unknown.  Plenty of people have told me the race is harder than most so at least I am not going into it completely naive.  My plan is to just take it as it comes.  I am not trying to kill any PRs, I am just trying to enjoy the day, finish the race and set myself up with some confidence for the rest of the year (I hope!).

In other news, I signed up for my A race of the year this week.  I had been thinking about it off an on.  Right after B2B last year, I thought I might do B2B again but then part of me wanted to at least try an IM branded race.  I was thinking about it.  Lord knows it is hard to get into these races these days.  I thought about going down to Florida to volunteer and register seemed so far in the distance.  Did I mention I don't want to deal with shipping my bike?  So that means everything has to be driving distance.  Enter Louisville.  I have heard mixed reviews on it.  Who I am kidding...  I have only had one person tell me they loved the race.  All the others have horror stories about the heat.  ....and then it happened.  A rainy day last Sunday saw me parked at my PC hitting the register button.  Spur of the moment?  Yep.  That is how I roll and I cannot wait to get to Louisville!

There is a pretty strong rumor that a new WTC Ironman is coming to Ashville NC in 2014

I did Louisville last year and kindof loved it. The heat, yeah it sucked and was 95 when I started the marathon, but the course itself is great! I would do the race again and want to. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I can't wait to hear how much you loved Knoxville. I have a feeling you will laugh at all of us that said that it was hard. :) Just have fun!

And I think you will truly love Louisville. I only know one person who loved the race and that was Kacie. She trained in Atlanta all summer and was prepared. That's the joy of our summers. I can't wait to cheer you on!!!

From atlanta IMFL is only like a 5 hour drive. not too bad at all. worst part is that it sells out in a matter of minutes so it does take so much more planning. Kelley doesn't fly so we have to stay in driving distance too, but it's 12 hours from Raleigh.

I bet you're going to love IMLou. You can handle the heat better than I can, it's why I won't live in atlanta. Well, that and the traffic. but for reals, congrats. That is an excellent choice.

and good luck in Knox this weekend! Knoxville is a surprisingly cool city. one of these years I'm going to get out there and do that one. it's on the bucket list.

and yea, BDD nailed it. WTC is looking at either asheville nc or kiawah island sc for another branded full. You want to get in on the first year? I'll do it if you will.

I think if you can prep yourself for the humidity and heat you will be just fine. Coming from the west, I think I would just melt since we don't have humidity here.

First of all, good luck tomorrow! You're going to do great!

Secondly, YAY for doing IMLou! We're going to have a blast! This means we will for sure have to train together! Any long ride scheduled? We'll be fine in the heat as I'm sure it's going to get pretty hot around here soon!

We have a friend that does Louisville and Florida each year....has for the past 7-8yrs or so. He LOVES Louisville. As a matter a fact, his times and experiences are better there than FL each year!!! This yr he added IMTX to the mix so we'll have to see how it compares, but I think you picked a good one.....AND you don't have to ship the bike too!!

Tuna tosser... OMG... yes, Rev3's loss to not have certain two awesome people on their team. But there's #alwaysnextyear for you! Not me, though. Next year, I do ballet and eat bon bons. Love the race report and love most of all how awesome you are---inside and out! You are awesome, Yoda!!!!
