Best Meals Happen at Home Publix Giveaway!
I have been trying to live the frugal lifestyle lately (for the most part...). I gave up my blond hair for something a little closer to my "roots" that did not require as much maintenance. I opted to get up at 3 AM to drive to a marathon two hours away in order to save money on a hotel. I have brought my breakfast, lunch and snacks to work every day this year except one (I forgot my breakfast one morning). I know, we aren't that far into 2012 just yet but trust me, it is a huge accomplishment that my car wheels have only been in a drive through one time in the past 3+ weeks.
I have also subscribed to a menu planning service that has helped me cut my grocery bill, keeps me from visiting the grocery store more than once a week and, as a bonus, not only keeps us from eating the same things days after day but also helps us to watch what we are eating. (I'll tell you more about that in another post).
We certainly aren't perfect eaters BUT by preparing things at home versus grabbing something on the fly, we can get a better handle on what we eat. We are even branching out past meat and potatoes into meats and vegetables that CR never would have touched in the past. (We have a rule, unless he asks what he is eating, don't tell him and it is all good...).
If you are lucky enough to have a Publix in your area, not only do they have fantastic buy one, get one free deals all the time but right now they have a Better Meals Happen at Home Campaign. You can visit them online or on facebook to find recipes you can make at home in 30 minutes or less as well as register for savings throughout the year!
AND...
They have given me a $25 Publix gift certificate to give away to one of you! All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me your favorite go to weekday meal in a hurry. I will pick a winner at random on 01/30/12. Good Luck!
Disclosure: The Publix gift card, information, and giveaway have been provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.

We don't have a nearby Publix, but I'm definitely going to check out the links. I'm ALWAYS looking for healthy, easy recipes. We eat 95% of our meals at home, and the worst part is coming up with what to make.
I LOVE publix. One of the best grocers around me (along with whole foods/earth fare and trader joes of course).
I like to buy the cartons or cans of soup and throw it on the stove for a quick meal. $25 can get me a weeks worth of soup ;)
My favorite go to weekday meal is tacos.

Double horseradish potato salmon http://www.myrecipes.com/recipe/potato-double-horseradish-salmon-10000001173783/ I searched forever to find a salmon recipe that would I would eat. I have never been the biggest salmon fan, but it's so good for you. I found this recipe from cookinglight.com and it's amazing. Our go to side is a spinach salad- fresh baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, feta cheese- done!
I do a lot of stuff in the crock pot. If you keep things like cream of mushroom soup or diced tomatoes on hand, you can toss that in the crock pot with just about any meat and potatoes and turn it on low and voila! dinner is done when you get home. easy peasy.
I don't live near a Publix, but we are coming to FL for vacation so if I win, I can use it then! :)
I am on the Publix band wagon.
This year I just don't really want to go out to eat - I think I can do better at home.
I am trying to keep beans, whole grains and veggies on hand that I can nix together any evening (or afternoon!) for a quick meal.
We make omelettes when we're in a big hurry!

I love the idea of the menu planning service! And you're doing a great job w/ the cost cutting--impressive.
No Publix here, so no entry for me!
We have pasta with chicken sausage and a salad or soup with grilled ham and cheese when we're in a hurry.
I've always been a Kroger fan but I'm slowly learning to appreciate Publix.
We make tacos when we are in a hurry.

I like to make flatbread pizza.
This is terrible but I love to eat cereal if I can't think of anything else. Allan doesn't really have a love of cereal like me!
Sadly, no Publix in my area...Oh, and I really don't cook, unless you count the microwave :)...I know that's horrible, but it just doesn't interest me and I hate cleaning up after I make a huge mess in the kitchen...
We love doing taco night where everyone can build their own with their favorite toppings.
Thanks for the chance to win!

I love Publix because they have a the best fresh produce.
I have never heard of Publix?
This so reminds me of my own post I just wrote for Monday!
My favorite go to meal is from the Pamper Chef 29 minutes or less cookbook. It's a Chicken and rice skillet (it's got mexi-corn in it...who doesn't like that??). It's quick and easy!
Love the BOGO at Publix.
My favorite go to meal is a quick vegetable spaghetti. Saute' veggies and add a jar of sauce over whole wheat pasta and a quick yummy meal is done.
We have four Publix stores all within a 3 mile radius in either direction. Yes, I love Publix. My favorite go to meal when time is of the essence: I fry up to egg whites with Pam cooking spray as my oil and put it in a spinach wrap with turkey and swiss cheese. That's it! Easy and healthy!
Our quick go to meal is Tacos. Thanks for the giveaway!
